Handcrafted ceramic mask by American ceramic artist Derek Weisberg. This sculptural wall piece features an intentionally distressed surface with layered black, gray, and pink coloration. The fragmented facial form and weathered patina evoke the appearance of an ancient artifact while retaining a distinctly contemporary sensibility.

The work demonstrates Weisberg's characteristic interest in expressive surfaces, human form, and the passage of time. An exceptional example of ceramic sculpture suitable for display in a collection of contemporary ceramics or figurative art.

Signed and dated by artist.

Dimension: 8" W x 8.5" H x 1.5" D

Condition: Excellent. Very minimal signs of age or handling. Acquired from private collection.

Derek Weisberg (b. 1983) is an American sculptor and ceramic artist whose work explores themes of vulnerability, memory, transformation, and the human condition. Raised in Benicia, California, he began working with clay as a child and earned a BFA with high honors from the California College of Arts and Crafts in 2005. Weisberg has exhibited extensively throughout the United States and internationally, with solo exhibitions in New York, San Francisco, Paris, and beyond.

He lives and works in New York and has taught at both Greenwich House Pottery and Teachers College, Columbia University.
