Maysha Mohamedi’s I’m Not the Milk and the Milk’s Not Me is a 2019 print that brings the artist’s intuitive, gestural language to paper. Against a deep black ground, repeated pale-blue marks form a loose rhythm across the composition, with sweeping lines and concentrated passages of orange, blue, green, and white.
The work feels spontaneous and deliberate—its layered gestures suggesting fragments of handwriting, musical notation, or an unfolding visual language. Expansive areas of darkness give the marks room to move, creating a composition that is energetic, mysterious, and distinctly lyrical.
